Insider's Guide to the Wine List

Whether it’s a limited selection or a multi-volume tome, you can make the wine list your friend! In this two-week course, Christophe Bakunas of Cream Wine Company will help you avoid pitfalls and unearth the jewels in any restaurant wine list.
We’ll start off with the principles of pairing, cover food friendly wines, and make you comfortable with etiquette and tableside tasting. Then we’ll move into tips for navigating the list like a pro, sketching out a plan, taking charge and impressing any of your guests at the table! Each week will include tastings and pairings, for both practice and enjoyment!

About our presenter
This course will be led by local wine guru Christophe Bakunas, key account representative and wine consultant for Cream Wine Company.
California grown, and steeped in food and wine since a young age, Christophe has been involved in the wine industry for 15 years. His journey began in restaurants and stints in Napa Valley and has progressed into distribution in Chicago to production of wines on the west coast. The nexus of his journey has been to de-mystify wine and get more and more people to embrace daily food and wine enjoyment.
Christophe acts as Cream Wine Company’s liaison for the small, artisanal wineries it represents in the Pacific Northwest – wineries which find their way onto some of the best restaurant wine lists in town. Christophe is also co-owner of SNAFU winery, which produces California red wine based on the simple principle of deliciousness.
