Mandois NV Brut OrigineIn Fine Spirits
The Mandois family have been growers in Pierry, a suburb of Epernay since 1735. The Origine is a new cuvee from the family that is tank fermented and then aged in old barrels for 6 months before being aged an additional three years on the lees. It is composed of 40% Chardonnay, 30% Meunier and 30% Pinot Noir. The wine has a pale straw color and a creamy, restrained nose. The Champagne is muscular, quite dry and framed rather than flavored by the wood. The finish is very solid and lingering, confirming its special cuvee quality over that of a normal non-vintage.
